I am restoring a 23-foot San Juan sailboat from 1980 as a hands-on mechanical and materials project. The work includes deep cleaning with chemical wash and pressure washing, removing rotted and outdated components, repairing fiberglass, and refinishing the exterior with paint and protective coatings. I am also rebuilding the interior with an emphasis on durability and usability, including updating the electrical system and reworking wiring for reliability in a marine environment. It has been a practical exercise in troubleshooting, planning, and executing repairs where structure, materials, and real-world constraints all matter.

I restore furniture as a hands-on outlet for creative expression and a way to customize the space around me. Most projects start with stripping old finishes, repairing or reinforcing joints, and sanding and surface leveling before refinishing with stain, paint, and protective topcoats for durability. I treat each piece like a small build by assessing what is salvageable, choosing the right materials and process, and iterating until the final fit and finish looks clean and holds up to daily use. Pictured below are a dining table set with chairs, as well as a dresser.
